The token economics of FLOKI are designed to support a multi-utility ecosystem spanning decentralized finance (DeFi), gaming, and education. The protocol employs a combination of transactional taxes, buyback-and-burn mechanisms, and multi-year staking incentives to manage its supply and encourage long-term holding.

Issuance and Supply Mechanism

FLOKI is a multichain token available on both the Ethereum (ERC-20) and BNB Smart Chain (BEP-20) networks. The total supply is capped at 10,000,000,000,000 (10 trillion) tokens per chain, though the effective total supply across both chains is managed through extensive burn mechanisms.

Deflationary Mechanisms

While FLOKI does not implement burns at the core contract level, it utilizes several ecosystem-driven "buyback and burn" mechanisms to remain perpetually deflationary:

• FlokiFi Locker: 25% of the service fees generated on the ETH and BNB chains are used to automatically buy back and burn FLOKI tokens.
• Floki Card: A 1% fee is charged upon the creation of a prepaid gift card, which is then used for token buybacks and burns.
• Early Unstaking Penalties: Tokens are burned as a penalty when holders unstake their assets before the end of their chosen duration.
• Manual Burns: Significant manual burn events occur periodically, such as the March 9, 2024, event where approximately 190.92 billion FLOKI were burned following a DAO vote.

Allocation Mechanism

The initial allocation of FLOKI was primarily directed toward the community. Based on historical data, the community allocation was 100% vested at the Token Generation Event (TGE) on June 21, 2021.

Usage and Incentive Mechanism

FLOKI serves as the primary utility token across several "pillars" of the ecosystem:

Primary Utilities

• Medium of Exchange: Used to purchase items in the Valhalla NFT Metaverse and to buy prepaid gift cards via Floki Card.
• Transaction Fees: A 0.3% tax is applied to every buy and sell transaction on decentralized exchanges (DEXs). These funds are directed to the Floki Treasury for ecosystem development and marketing.
• Governance: Tokenholders can participate in the Floki DAO by voting on Snapshot proposals regarding ecosystem offerings and treasury allocations.
• Education: FLOKI is the main utility token for the University of Floki, where it is required to access specific premium functions.

Staking Incentives

Tokenholders can stake their FLOKI to earn rewards in TOKEN (the reward token for the TokenFi platform). A total of 5.60 billion TOKEN (56% of its total supply) has been allocated to FLOKI stakers.

Locking Mechanism and Unlocking Time

FLOKI emphasizes long-term stability through extensive locking periods for both liquidity and user-staked tokens.

Liquidity Locking

The project has committed to extreme long-term liquidity security. Liquidity is locked for 265 years on both the Ethereum and BNB Smart Chain networks.

User Staking and Unlocking

Users can choose between four distinct staking durations. The rewards (APY) and early withdrawal penalties are scaled based on the length of the commitment:

As of late 2023, over 25% of the total FLOKI supply was reported as locked within the staking program, with some participants committing their tokens for the maximum 4-year duration. Rewards earned through staking can generally be claimed at any time, but the principal remains subject to the chosen lock-up period or the associated penalty for early withdrawal.
