A card that exists only inside an app and a phone wallet raises a different set of questions from a piece of plastic in your pocket.
The MEXC Global Card is MEXC's second Visa card, launched on August 31, 2026.
It sits alongside the original MEXC Card, which remains available in selected Asia-Pacific markets, and the MEXC × ether.fi co-branded card.
This guide is written for the Global Card, and the full MEXC Global Card guide covers the fees, cashback and application steps that are not repeated here.
What follows is the set of controls MEXC publishes and the actions that stay with you, as of September 2026.

Key Takeaways
  • The card spends only the balance you have topped up from your Fiat Account, so exposure is capped at the card balance rather than your whole account.
  • 3DS verification can trigger on your first purchase, on cross-border purchases and on transactions flagged as high risk, and the one-time code arrives by email.
  • The code email states that it is valid for four minutes, and an expired code means starting the payment again.
  • The freeze path is My MEXC Card, then More, then Freeze Your Card.
  • Consecutive failed transactions trigger MEXC's risk review and can terminate the card automatically, so a declined payment is not worth retrying.
  • Every completed purchase generates a notification email showing the amount, the merchant and the last four digits of the card.

How the MEXC Global Card Limits Exposure by Design

The card runs on a top-up model, which means it spends only the balance you have moved across from your Fiat Account.
Your trading balance is not drawn on directly, and each top-up moves between 1 and 1,000,000 USDT, arriving on the card within minutes.
That single design decision does most of the work, because a card number in the wrong hands reaches the card balance and not everything else in your account.
The card bills in USD, and as of September 2026 it allows up to 80,000 USD per transaction and 1,000,000 USD per day.
Your card number, expiry date and CVV appear on the card's detail view on the My MEXC Card page, and MEXC's own guide tells cardholders to keep those three fields private.
Applying requires Advanced KYC, which covers a government-issued ID plus face recognition, and each verified identity may generally hold only one card of each type.
Apple Pay and Google Pay are set up by typing the card details in manually, and the wallet name has to match the cardholder name, as covered in the guide to adding the MEXC Card to Apple Pay or Google Pay.
Apple and Google describe the same mechanism once a card is added: Apple stores a device-specific Device Account Number and states your real card number is not sent to the merchant, while Google creates a randomly generated virtual card number in its place.

MEXC Card 3DS Verification: When It Triggers and What to Do With the Code

3-D Secure, usually shortened to 3DS, is the card-network step that asks you to confirm a payment before it completes.
MEXC's Transaction FAQ lists five situations in which the card may ask for it:
  • The transaction is considered high risk.
  • The transaction is cross-border.
  • It is your first card transaction.
  • The amount exceeds the contactless or authentication-free limit.
  • Local regulations, such as the EU's PSD2 requirements, call for additional authentication.
The one-time code arrives by email, so check the inbox tied to your MEXC account, and the spam folder if nothing shows up.
The code email states that it is valid for four minutes.
If it expires, start the payment again instead of waiting for a second code to arrive.
Never share the code with anyone, including anyone claiming to be MEXC support, because a code handed over is a payment approved.
Once a payment goes through, MEXC sends a transaction notification email showing the amount, the merchant and the last four digits of the card.
That email is usually the fastest way to spot a charge you did not make.

A MEXC Card Verification Code You Did Not Request

A 3DS code for a payment you did not start means someone is trying to transact with your card details.
Freeze the card first, before you try to work out where the details leaked from.
Then contact MEXC Customer Service, which is also the route to a replacement card.
If a charge has already gone through, contact the merchant first, since many disputed charges turn out to be a billing issue rather than fraud.
If that fails, find the transaction under Transaction History and file a dispute with Customer Service, giving the reason and your evidence.
The deadlines are firm, with suspected fraudulent transactions to be disputed within 120 days and duplicate charges within 90 days.

How to Freeze Your MEXC Card

MEXC publishes one freeze path, and it takes three steps:
  • Step 1. Open the My MEXC Card page.
  • Step 2. Select More.
  • Step 3. Click Freeze Your Card.
Use it when your phone goes missing, when someone else has seen the card details, when an unfamiliar charge appears, or when a code arrives for a payment you did not start.
MEXC's guide to applying for the Global Card pairs freezing with a second step, which is to contact Customer Service and request a replacement card.
The published guide does not describe a self-service way to unfreeze a card, so contact Customer Service rather than hunting the menu for a toggle MEXC has not documented.
Treat the freeze as an emergency stop rather than a daily switch.

MEXC Card Risk Controls: What Can Block or Terminate a Card

Most declines have an ordinary cause, and MEXC lists five of them:
  • Not enough balance on the card.
  • A frozen or restricted card.
  • An unsupported merchant category.
  • Risk-control restrictions.
  • A temporary network or merchant problem.
Check the card balance and the card status first, and contact Customer Service if the payment still fails once you have ruled those out.
What you should not do is keep tapping.
Consecutive failed transactions trigger MEXC's risk review and can result in automatic card termination, turning a five-minute annoyance into a fresh application.
MEXC does not publish how many attempts it takes, which is the strongest reason to stop after one or two rather than find out.
Suspicious activity, including unauthorized use or attempts to exploit the card program, can trigger the same controls and end the same way.
Risk flags reach rewards too, because an account or transaction flagged by risk controls may receive no cashback even when the purchase settled at an eligible merchant, and the only route back is Customer Service.
The rest of the MEXC Card cashback rules sit in a separate guide, and MEXC's Card Rewards FAQ states the risk-control exception directly.
Money held by a failed or reversed authorization is released back to your balance automatically, usually within 1 to 3 business days, with nothing for you to submit.

What MEXC Cannot See About a Declined Payment

Some declines never reach MEXC at all.
If the failure appears on the merchant's payment page and no matching record shows up in your MEXC transaction history, the merchant's side rejected it, and MEXC cannot access the reason.
Customer Service is not withholding an explanation here, because there is no MEXC record to read.
Try another payment method, or ask the merchant why the payment was refused.
MEXC also does not publish whether merchant-side refusals count toward that failure total.

Everyday Habits for a Virtual MEXC Card

The habits worth keeping are the ones that follow from how this card actually works, not a generic internet-safety checklist.
  • Open the card detail view only to add the card to a wallet or pay a merchant, and keep the number, expiry and CVV out of screenshots and chat apps.
  • Keep the name in Apple Wallet or Google Wallet matching your cardholder name, since a mismatch stops the card being added at all.
  • Read every transaction notification email, and match the amount, merchant and last four digits against something you actually bought.
  • Freeze first and investigate second, because the freeze is three steps and the investigation is not.
  • Never pass a 3DS code to anyone, whatever job title they claim.
  • Stop after a couple of declines and contact Customer Service, rather than retrying until the risk system steps in.
  • Top up roughly what you plan to spend, since the card can only ever spend its own balance.
One habit sits upstream of all of these.
Applications run on Advanced KYC verification, so the identity attached to the card is one MEXC has already checked against a government-issued ID and a face scan.
That is also why one verified identity generally gets one card of each type, and what Advanced KYC requires for the MEXC Card sets out the documents involved and the regions where the card is offered.

Frequently Asked Questions About MEXC Card Security

Q: Is the MEXC Card safe to use?
A: MEXC publishes five controls: a top-up model that limits spending to the card balance, Advanced KYC on every application, 3DS verification on first, cross-border and high-risk purchases, a freeze option on the card page, and a risk-control system that can block or terminate a card.

Q: What is 3DS verification on the MEXC Card?
A: 3-D Secure is a card-network check that sends a one-time code to your registered email, which you enter to complete certain purchases.

Q: Why did I get a MEXC Card verification code I did not request?
A: It means a payment attempt was made with your card details, so freeze the card immediately and contact MEXC Customer Service.

Q: How do I freeze my MEXC Card?
A: Open the My MEXC Card page, select More, then click Freeze Your Card.

Q: Can I unfreeze my MEXC Card myself?
A: MEXC's published guide does not describe a self-service unfreeze step, so contact Customer Service if a frozen card needs to be reactivated.

Q: Why was my MEXC Card terminated?
A: Consecutive failed transactions and suspicious activity, including unauthorized use or attempts to exploit the card program, can both trigger risk controls that end in automatic termination.

Q: What happens if my MEXC Card payment keeps failing?
A: Consecutive failed transactions trigger MEXC's risk review and can result in the card being terminated automatically, and MEXC does not publish how many attempts that takes, so contact Customer Service instead of retrying.

Q: Does Apple Pay or Google Pay show my real MEXC Card number?
A: Apple states that a device-specific Device Account Number is used and that your actual card number is not sent to the merchant, and Google describes a randomly generated virtual card number in its place, though MEXC does not publish card-specific details of either arrangement.

Q: Where is the money on my MEXC Card held?
A: It sits as your card balance inside your MEXC account, topped up from your Fiat Account, and it is not a bank product.

Conclusion

MEXC handles a fair amount without being asked: 3DS prompts on risky and cross-border payments, a notification email after every purchase, automatic release of held funds, and a risk review that can stop a card outright.
The rest is yours, and it comes down to two moves.
Freeze early, because three steps taken at the first odd charge are worth more than an hour of investigation afterward.
Never share a 3DS code, because that code is the last thing standing between a stranger and your card balance.
Note: Card features, fees, and benefits are subject to change; always check the official MEXC Card page for the latest terms.
