Why Do People Move Crypto Off Poloniex?

Three reasons come up more than any other.

The first is what happened in November 2023.

On November 10, 2023, security firms flagged outflows from Poloniex hot wallets and the exchange disabled its wallets, with Finance Magnates putting the loss at about 114 million dollars and reporting that the exchange's owner, Justin Sun, pledged full reimbursement and offered a bounty for the return of the funds.

Cointelegraph reported that deposits and withdrawals resumed in phases from November 30, 2023, starting with TRX and followed by BTC, ETH and USDT, and in mid-December CoinDesk reported Sun saying tokens were still being re-enabled one by one.

That is a timeline, not a verdict on the platform today, and we keep the record in our exchange hack history database alongside every other incident.

The second reason is coverage: Poloniex has run bulk delistings since 2024, each with a date after which withdrawals for the delisted coins close, and a holder of a delisted coin has to move it before that date.

Poloniex or Poloniex US?

This guide follows the support center of the global Poloniex platform.

Poloniex US is a separate entity that kept the platform's US customers after the 2019 spin-out, and its FAQ describes a web-only withdrawal process for USDC balances with identity verification required first.

If your account is there, use that site's instructions, and note that MEXC does not serve the United States in any case.

How Much Can You Withdraw From Poloniex in a Day?

Poloniex sets the daily limit by account level and by whether 2FA is on.

Two things follow from that table.

Enabling 2FA is the fastest way to raise a limit, because it multiplies a Level 1 cap by five and a Level 2 cap by two without any review.

And verification is a compliance step with a published benefit, not something to work around: a balance above 50,000 dollars needs Level 2 before it can leave in a day.

What Does "Awaiting Approval" Mean on Poloniex?

It means a person is looking at your withdrawal.

Poloniex's support center says that for security reasons some withdrawals require direct review and approval by its operations team, and that those show the status Awaiting Approval.

The same article says Poloniex cannot guarantee instant withdrawals, that a withdrawal can take up to 24 hours to process, and that if yours is not approved within that time you should be contacted at your registered email address.

It also advises against sending to timed addresses, which is the practical point: never start a Poloniex withdrawal against a deadline that is less than a day away.

Before any of that, there is the confirmation step.

Poloniex's own notice on confirming withdrawals says the default is a link sent to your registered email, with 2FA as the alternative, and that a missing email is usually a spam filter or a provider blocking an unfamiliar sender, with a resend option once you have allowed Poloniex's addresses.

Why Should You Set Up the Destination First?

The withdrawal form needs an address before it needs anything else, so the new account has to exist first.

One thing first: MEXC's User Agreement lists the United States and the United Kingdom as prohibited jurisdictions, and MEXC holds no MiCA authorisation for the European Economic Area.

A withdrawal fee is paid once, and a trading fee is paid on every fill.

MEXC's fee page lists spot trading at 0.0000% for makers and 0.0500% for takers, and the BTCUSDT perpetual at 0.000% for makers and 0.020% for takers, as of September 10, 2026.

For ERC-20 tokens, Poloniex's support center says the fee is dynamic and is adjusted higher during network congestion so that withdrawals are not disrupted.

Which Network Should You Pick?

Pick from the overlap, then pick the cheapest.

List the networks MEXC accepts for your coin on its deposit page, list the networks Poloniex offers in the withdrawal form, and keep only the ones on both.

USDT on Ethereum is the route most Poloniex users know, and it is the slow one on the receiving side, because MEXC credits USDT on ERC-20 only after 96 network confirmations.

Addresses beginning with 0x look identical on Ethereum, BNB Smart Chain, Polygon and Arbitrum, so the address itself will never warn you that you picked the wrong network.

How to Transfer Crypto From Poloniex in Six Steps

Step 1: Check your level and your 2FA.

If the balance is above your daily cap, enable 2FA or verify to Level 2 before moving day, and confirm you can reach the email account Poloniex will write to.

Step 2: Copy the deposit address and any memo from the destination.

On MEXC that is Wallets, then Deposit, then On-Chain Deposit, with the coin and the network chosen.

Step 3: Open the coin in your Poloniex wallet and choose Withdraw.

Check spam and any filters, allow Poloniex's sending addresses, and use the resend option in your account.

The balance is below the fee.

Poloniex will not send a coin unless the balance covers more than the minimum network fee, so consolidate small balances into one coin first.
