Hindi Ito Marites: China’s ‘wolf warrior’ diplomacy

China’s so-called wolf warriors are picking fights with Philippine officials: senators Risa Hontiveros, Kiko Pangilinan, Erwin Tulfo, and Coast Guard spokesman Commodore Jay Tarriela. Its Manila embassy’s Facebook page is a quagmire of rants and disinformation, signed off by its diplomats.

It’s not typical diplomat behavior, and it’s patently undiplomatic, but Rappler editor-at-large Marites Vitug tells us it’s part of Beijing’s broader design: bullhorn rhetoric to match its maritime adventurism.
