PANews reported on February 22 that, according to Axios, South Carolina Republican Senator Lindsey Graham stated that several people close to President Trump advised him against bombing Iran. Graham urged Trump to ignore their advice. Graham, who has close ties to Trump, is a leading figure in the Trump circle supporting a strike against Iran.
Graham stated, "Given the past entanglements, I understand concerns about large-scale military operations in the Middle East. However, those advising against involvement seem to ignore the consequences of allowing evil forces to run rampant." Graham indicated that following his recent visit to the region, he believes there is an opportunity to "bring about historic change" in Iran. He said, "But it is becoming increasingly clear to me that there are growing voices against involvement and against the risks of decisive action. Time will tell how all this unfolds."
