GCash, together with global payments technology firm Meridian, has unveiled the new GCash Virtual US Account, an in-app feature that allows users to receive USD directly into their e-wallets without extra deductions and hidden fees.

The capability is powered by Meridian Payments US1, the partner service provider of GCash, which provides the users with a unique routing and account number that enables direct deposits from US employers and platforms, an option traditionally available only through dollar accounts in banks. Once received into their GCash Virtual US Account, users can convert their USD funds into PHP at competitive exchange rates.

This marks a significant expansion of the cross-border payment capabilities of GCash. By providing users with their own ACH and wire details, the Virtual US Account unlocks a direct route for receiving USD transfers without relying on third-party channels.

Powering cross-border payments for Filipino freelancers

The new GCash Virtual US Account is designed to help freelancers and gig workers who receive USD payments from clients abroad, who frequently lose a portion of their earnings to costly transfer fees charged by banks and other payment platforms.

There are over 5 million freelancers in the Philippines, including 2.2 million who work with international clients in creative, tech, and service industries. Efficient payments are critical to their income stability, but traditional channels often involve high fees and multiple steps that delay access to their money. Platforms also auto-convert USD at less favorable forex rates.

The GCash Virtual US Account streamlines this process by enabling direct transfers of USD into GCash with no additional fees. Users also have full control over conversion, allowing them to choose when to convert USD to PHP based on live forex rates.

GCash strengthens its role in the digital economy

Through its partnership with Meridian Payments US, GCash expands its global financial services, supporting the growing number of Filipinos who earn from participating in the digital economy.

According to Paul Albano, GCash International general manager, “The new Virtual US Account strengthens our international offerings and reinforces GCash’s role as a key financial platform for Filipinos earning overseas. By giving users direct access to USD through globally compliant infrastructure, we are closing long-standing gaps in cross-border income flows.”

Verified GCash users can now activate the feature on the GCash app in three easy steps:

  1. Open the GCash app – Tap US Accounts in the Explore the App section
  2. Tap Continue and verify your information
  3. Complete your account creation

Once activated, users can start immediately receiving their USD payments or remittances, view live forex rates, and withdraw funds to their e-wallet for their everyday transactions. Download the GCash app today to get started. – Rappler.com

Aave V4 roadmap signals end of multichain sprawl

The post Aave V4 roadmap signals end of multichain sprawl appeared on BitcoinEthereumNews.com. Aave Labs has released its official launch roadmap for V4, laying out the final steps ahead of the major upgrade’s Q4 mainnet launch.  Alongside new architectural and security improvements, the roadmap introduces a fundamental shift in how user balances are tracked and highlights a strategic pullback from economically underperforming deployments across layer-2 and alternative layer-1 networks. The V4 release moves away from aTokens’ rebasing-style mechanics toward ERC-4626-style share accounting, a change that promises cleaner integrations, easier tax treatment, and better compatibility with downstream DeFi infrastructure.  In a recent technical development update, Aave Labs confirmed that “tokenization is to remain optional and built using ERC 4626 vaults,” and that internal accounting will eliminate the use of exchange rates or scaled balances. The goal is to “further improve the overall reliability of the protocol.” ERC-4626 is a widely adopted Ethereum standard that expresses user deposits as shares of a vault rather than balances that grow over time. In Aave V3, aTokens accrue interest by increasing a user’s balance directly — behavior that resembles rebasing tokens and often confuses integrations and portfolio accounting tools.  By contrast, ERC-4626 tracks yield through a rising price-per-share metric, leaving token balances unchanged. The result is more predictable behavior for integrators, auditors and tax software, as well as a clearer cost basis for users. The roadmap also outlines a series of release milestones, including a formal codebase publication, a public testnet launch with a redesigned interface, and the completion of a multi-layered security review involving formal verification and manual audits. Aave Labs said the roadmap reflects the protocol’s “final stages of review, testing, and deployment,” and that additional documentation and launch preparation materials will be released in the coming weeks. But the most pointed strategic shift comes not from the codebase, but from Aave’s own governance forums. “Aave…
